From July 2 to July 15, 2017, Randy Head will convene a summer institute on the ‘New archival histories: Early modern Europe and beyond’ at the Herzog August Bibliothek in Wolfenbüttel, Germany. The course is designed for advanced PhD students. A call for applications is expected in November, with an application deadline in February 2017.
Key themes will include: material approaches to European archives; institutional archives and the transmission to the present; archival practice and legal practice; cultural images of the archive; and global archivalities.
The instructional staff is still under development. Updates to follow!
Participants will take part in a daily morning seminar, followed by afternoons free for reading, discussion, and work in the Herzog August Bibliothek’s superb collections of manusripts and early printed material.
